About Kevin Dean:
Kevin Dean was raised and educated in the United States and moved to Canada in 1980 after accepting a position at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia where he helped design their first jazz curriculum. In 1984 he accepted a position in the Faculty of Music at McGill University in Montreal and designed the first full jazz curriculum there. Kevin is an active composer with over 130 original compositions recorded on LPs, CDs, radio and television broadcasts, and film. He has been recorded on over 30 CDs/LPs and has released 14 as a leader or co-leader. Kevin maintains the position of professor in the Performance Department at McGill’s Schulich School of Music, teaching trumpet, jazz composition, jazz improvisation, and jazz performance practice. He lives in Montreal with his wife and daughter.
