Brent Ghiglione

Music Director - Regina Jazz Orchestra

Brent Ghiglione is an award-winning trumpeter, educator and conductor who is currently the Director of Bands at the University of Regina. His reputation as a band director was earned by building the renowned program at Campbell Collegiate, one of the most celebrated band programs in Western Canada. His ensembles have been multiple winners of major competitions.

An active clinician and adjudicator across Canada and the United States, Brent is responsible for establishing and coordinating the Prairielands Jazz Camp since its inception in 1993. In the fall of 2019, he received the Saskatchewan Band Association’s Band Builder Award for his outstanding contributions to bands in Saskatchewan and in 2025 is the recipient of the University of Regina President’s Teaching Excellence Award. Professor Ghiglione's teaching and mentorship demonstrates his unwavering dedication to his students and their growth as individuals.

As a trumpet player, Brent is a regular member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and a member and leader of The Bob Moyer Big Band, Regina’s premiere swing dance band. He is also founder of Regina Winds, a semi-professional wind band, as well as the University of Regina High School Wind Ensemble.

Since RJO’s inception in 2011, he has led projects with the Regina Jazz Orchestra featuring international-renowned musicians including PJ Perry, Wayne Bergeron, Ranee Lee, Hilario Duràn, Kelly Jefferson, Brad Turner, Gordon Foote and many more.
